Apple Cardamom Cake

The past twelve days have been jam-packed and I just haven’t been able to spend any time here but I am happy to be back and I brought a cake to celebrate!

Since arriving home we have been settling in and unpacking, seeing friends and family, getting some work projects started and even doing a few cooking events around the city. In between the visits and the projects and the unpacking I have been cooking, cooking, cooking. What a joy to be back in the kitchen and the rainy, cold Vancouver weather is inspiring me. Escarole and Conchigliette Soup with Parmesan Meatballs

We are home. Home sweet home.

We arrived home to see Vancouver in all of her autumnal glory. Cool and crisp temperatures, red and gold leaves still clinging to the trees, brisk breezes and even some snow on the mountains! This being Vancouver there has been some rain as well, but I am happily embracing it all. Pulling on my boots and a warm coat, finding my gloves and grabbing an umbrella, heading out with the dog to walk our usual route to Trout Lake it almost feels like I never left. Almost. Spaghetti alla Carbonara


Our days are winding down here. We shipped home some boxes of stuff today and will be cleaning the apartment and packing suitcases over the next few days. We have begun doing things “for the last time” here in Miami. As in, “this will be the last Monday that we have gelato cones after school” or “tomorrow will be our last after-dinner-swim at Miami Beach”. Continue reading
